Joe Guiton design

Melbourne based Folk Punk Singer-Songwriter Joe Guiton asked me to come up with a multi-purpose design for merch, flyers, web, everything – given total creative control I tried to create something clean and striking that sums up Joe; sad songs, skulls, beer and punk rock.

I’m glad he likes it 🖤💀

Queensland State Championships 2017

Super stoked with how my matches went at the QLD State Championships – Gold for Gi and No Gi. Most importantly, I’ve got a few things to take from each roll and work on for the next competition- I can’t wait.

Went into this comp more focused and starting to think strategically, less nerves and more confident about my game and my style. I honestly believe I have the best Coaches and team mates I could ask for because this only happens with them in my life.

Byron Bay International Open **

This weekend I both volunteered and competed at the Byron Bay International Open (2* rating).

It was a really fun experience to see the set up and get to know the faces and the hard work that goes into creating a BJJ comp. I saw work going into things I’d never even considered before and it made me appreciate competing in it even more.

I worked on the point keeping table for the kids brackets, got ready, warmed up and headed to my mat. I had straight finals for both Gi and No Gi brackets (Female, Novice, 56kg) against a great opponent whom I really respect. I felt confident in my movement and happy with my rolls and I got to take a few things back to the dojo to work on for the next comp. what more could I ask for?

Gawn Brand

Recently I’ve been working with a locally based Surf-Lifeatyle brand called Gawn Brand, creating artwork for their new line of winter shirts. Super fun crew of people and absolutely love what their about.

Antonia & The Lazy Susans

A really lovely band from The Blue Mountains, NSW called Antonia & The Lazy Susans have a new EP out soon on Sad Grrrls Club and they asked me to create a nice clean and simple artwork for it.
The dog on the cover is their dog Brady who they absolutely adore.

This is also my second design piece, ever, created soley in Illustrator. i put off learning illustrator for years, even more years than Photoshop. I was a stubborn arsehole in Art School who believed a craft knife and a glue stick would be all I ever needed to create artwork, alas.

Elliott Smith tribute show

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of Either/Or, I will be performing at the Elliott Smith Tribute show at The Brightside in Brisbane on March 3rd.
Click here for the Facebook event page and here for tickets click here.

I’m really excited about playing this show. I’ll be playing 3 Songs. One from Either/Or, one from XO and one was a Cat Stevens cover he played that sounds like it was just made for him.

I fell in love with Elliott Smith’s songs whilst I was at Art School in 2004. A friend Sara was trying to play Elliott Smith songs on guitar and it started from there.
She was also helping out organising “From a basement to the stage – a show for Elliott Smith” at the University of London Union. I don’t remember any of the bands that played, but I do remember playing someone else’s guitar in the bar and people sitting around to listen. Maybe that was my first show.

I’ve been doing better thank you, in fact I’m doing better than the last time I met you.
I’ve not said I feel sad aloud in a long, long time.
Still, I’ve cried on my own listening to your favourite songs, hoping that someone would walk through that door so I don’t have to cry by myself anymore.

I’m hoping and wishing that someone else would be just like you except a lot nicer.
In parts I could say that about myself but this is definitely about you this time.
